I have been sketching floral designs for years, in notebooks and on scraps of paper. In 2015 I suffered from a concussion and when laying down in the evenings I would often see vivid mandalas that would move and unfold in front of me. By the end of 2015 I began painting mandalas and expanding on the drawings I’d done earlier. Every mandala is completely unique, and begins with no preconceived design other than colour scheme. Working layer by layer I attempt to create balance between space and form, feeling out what the painting is asking for. I find the process of creating these paintings therapeutic and restorative; each piece is an expression of love and compassion.
